Uncle Rick, the CEO of Axe Trader has been a veteran of on and off- Wall Street with decades of experience in the Financial Markets and a huge appetite to build an ideal world for the retail crowd to gain wealth. He has had plenty of successful ventures with decades of C-Suite experience. Uncle Rick has managed and operated several businesses from the trenches of the last two recessions (dot-com bubble and Housing crises) into the profitable cash cows they are today! It would be wise to use the tips that Rick employed while managing portfolios of small and large sizes! Specifically, it would be wise to follow his guidelines on prop trading success tips that would help you upskill into a disciplined trader.
Warren Buffet's famous quote is how money moves from the impatient to the patient in the markets. Emotional decisions like doubling down or tripling down on a losing trade just to lower your average cost for the trade can blow up your portfolio. Risking half or more of your portfolio size per trade is like gambling in Vegas on the roulette table! Fear of Missing Out or FOMO is a real emotional problem traders face when in a dilemma of whether to enter a trend day trade after the initial move has already been made on the market (how to day trade for a living). Say the SPX the Indice is already up 1.0% for the day, and the average volatility of SPX is 0.9% (+/-) on any given day in a trading year, hence when you fomo you would decide to play the rest of the trend day with buy orders, then price action for SPX finds buy-side liquidity and forms a downtrend while you’re in an open buy position. These dangerous situations can more often than not, condition you to repeat your bad behaviors and repeat it all over again as you’re trying to “double up or risk it all”, after a big loss on your portfolio.
Another common pitfall is failing to read the rules each prop firm has on A-Booking traders. You can claim you did not know about these rules after breaking them, but avoid doing this and read up on all the rules, plus contact customer support to clarify all the doubts you may have before running the risk of blowing up your prop trading account.
Have a solid Trade Plan: For instance, having a hard stop on trading for the day after two consecutive losses allows you to stay in the prop trading game longer and allow you to stop making emotional decisions like a breakeven mentality or FOMO into trade mentality that will blow up your prop firm account by breaching Daily Drawdowns. Also, aim for a minimum risk-to-reward of 1:2 for every trade.
Have a solid Risk Management Plan: Risking between 0.5% to 2% per trade is crucial for longevity in your prop trading success. Regardless of how good your set-up is, risk either 0.5%, 1%, or 2% per trade during your challenge phase and your funded phase. Do not deviate from the risk management rules you have set for yourself regardless of how good or great the trade setups are. Stay Consistent and follow the same risk management protocols that you did for the challenge phase as well as the funded phase. For instance, if you risk 1% per trade during the challenge or evaluation phase, do the same on the funded phase to avoid delays in your payouts. (Regardless of the prop firm you trade with).
Keep it Simple: Study Price Action to find the most rewarding trades with the least risk! Don’t overcomplicate your trading with 10 plus technical indicators! Have a set of confluences for your entry trigger on a trade setup. Say you have a list of 5 main confluences for an entry trigger, and ⅘ of your confluences are verified, do not enter the trade unless all of your confluences are verified! No grey areas while you trade, it's always black or white.
Stop Loss or Take Profit: Practice consistency over the next 100 trades, and make yourself a promise to either let your trades hit your stop loss or your take profit. Nothing in between, and avoid changing your stop losses and take profits while you trade, this indecisiveness can negatively condition you and will compel you to make irrational decisions while trading.
The traders that pass our evaluation phase and make it to a funded account often keep it simple with a solid trade plan, a solid trading risk management plan, and most importantly have mastered the psychology of the mindset you need while trading!

Theoretical performance outcomes should not be considered as reflective of real trading experiences and are typically formulated with the advantage of historical knowledge, which may either overstate or understate the influence of specific market factors such as limited liquidity and price fluctuations.
